Project 1
"Quick Beat" was my first project in music tech one I used a variety of loops to create this simple beat. I like taking something simple in this case the flute at the beginning and turning it into the melody for a beat, which hopefully throws the listener off a little. In this project I used a sub bass, air flute, a hard ground beat. gospel improv, as well as some other beats to create this song. I would call this project a success based on the fact that this is my first 48+ beat song.
Project 2 (abaca)
My abaca using loops was one of the hardest project I have done so far in music tech. Although once I was able to make a solid "a" beat all I had to worry about was the "b" beat as well as the "c" beat which ended up being much easier then I had anticipated. I found the melody that I wanted to go with pretty quickly with a nice hi hat and a synth sort of beat. In this project I used a bass, synth, hard ground beat that was in my last project because I liked the simplicity of the beat, and I also used a pop Champagne harp to mix things up and keep the listener on their toes. One thing that I like about this project is when I made the harp a little off beat from the rest of the song so make I stand out. I think this project was a success because I took the boundaries of the normal abaca beat and stretched them out a bit to create a good sounding beat.
16 bar beat
This is my self made 16 bar beat. The hardest part of this project was trying to come up with my own melody and then having the rest of what needs to be in a song "back up" that melody. Something I would change about the song is the bass, that's the 3rd track down. It's seems a little out of place although it was the best I came up with at the time. I do like the abac format that I followed which I believe worked out pretty well. Over all I think this project was a success because I accomplished everything that was needed for this project, I was able to add a melody, corpus, hi hats, and a bass which all blended together quite well.
Mashup Project
This was one of the hardest projects this semester for myself. Going into the project I though that it would be easy with trying to find a beat I like and a vocal I like as well, although something I didn't plan for was how hard it is to find vocal only songs that are popular/I like. When I was able to find the vocal only songs they wouldn't always go with the beat that I had. Towards the end of this project I was able to find the vocals I liked combined with an instrumental that was able to blend with the vocals. I couldn't get the song onto soundcloud without it being taken down by either tyler, the creator or busta rhymes.
